Donna Skelly worked for 30 years in the broadcast industry in both Ontario and Quebec covering high profile and wide-ranging events. She reported on the first Gulf War, life behind bars at Kingston’s notorious Prison for Women, as well as social and political issues. Donna has also anchored local, regional and national newscasts, produced and hosted a daily controversial talk show, and distinguished herself behind-the-scenes as a very effective producer.
In 2000, Donna launched her own company, News 4 Hamilton, an internet-based station that provided valuable local information and insight to the community. She also served as an instructor for Mohawk College’s Broadcast Journalism program.
Donna is an active member of the community, and has served on numerous charitable groups such as World Vision, Hamilton Children’s Aid Society, the Catholic Youth Organization, Make it Seven (an effort to bring an NHL franchise to Hamilton), Hamilton Minor League Football, and the National Advisory Board on Canadian Culture . Her community involvement was recognized when she was named Hamilton Woman of the Year by the YWCA.
Donna lives in ward 7 with her two sons.
